The former Brazilian leader has been detained after authorities found he posed a serious risk of fleeing while under domestic detention.

The ex-president was sentenced of orchestrating a government overthrow in last fall and given more than over two decades in incarceration, but he continued under home detention pending court reviews.

High Court Judge Justice Moraes said the move to detain the elderly politician was a precautionary step after fresh information emerged.
